Exemestane Tablets IP is a medication used in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Breast cancer that is hormone receptor-positive relies on the hormones estrogen and/or progesterone to grow. Exemestane is classified as an aromatase inhibitor, and it works by blocking the activity of an enzyme called aromatase, which is responsible for converting androgens (male hormones) into estrogen in postmenopausal women. Exemestane Tablets IP is commonly used as part of adjuvant therapy in postmenopausal women with early-stage hormone receptor-positive breast cancer to reduce the risk of cancer recurrence after surgery or other treatments.
